TRICARE Therapy Services
The TRICARE Payment Process:
Jacquelyn Broadus, LLC (DBA Hopeful Journey) is a Certified Non-Participating, Non-Network TRICARE East provider. This means that clients pay my TRICARE cash rate out-of-pocket at the time of service and that I do not submit billing claims to TRICARE. Instead, I provide a fancy receipt at the end of the month called a superbill to the client that includes information about the services provided and who provided the services. The client in turn would submit that superbill along with a claim form to their TRICARE claims department. TRICARE would reimburse the client a percentage of the out-of-pocket expenses that would depend on the member’s TRICARE plan. It is important for the client to verify what is needed and what to expect by contacting TRICARE.
-
$147.50 for the first intake appointment (code 90791)
$130.50 for each 55+ minute session afterwards (code 90837)
-
When contacting TRICARE:
You will need the member’s number, the name of the client to receive services, and that person’s date of birth.
Let them know that there are limited openings with in-network providers in our area for the specialized type of treatment recommended for this population (which is, unfortunately, true).
Verify if your plan requires an authorization request from your primary care physician (PCP) or if the non-network provider’s authorization request is sufficient. (Prime plans usually require the PCP to make a referral).
Let them know that you are wanting to verify how reimbursement will work for your plan when you submit the superbill invoice and claims form from a “non-participating, non-network TRICARE certified provider.” (What % of your out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed?)
Verify if you can submit claims online or if only by mail.
Verify how often or how long after service dates you can submit claims.

If a client has TRICARE, another consideration would be to opt-out of using insurance for services, and this would be indicated on the intake paperwork. With this option, the normal Hopeful Journey rates would apply and payments would be made to Jacquelyn Broadus, LLC. TRICARE would not be involved in the season of therapy.
With either option of using or not using insurance, you will be provided with a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) of projected therapy service fees.

For payment of invoices, Hopeful Journey uses IvyPay, a secure and HIPAA compliant app designed for debit/credit card payments for therapy services. A link to setup an account and enter a card would be sent via text message to your phone. IvyPay will then keep your card on file to bill future invoices. Jacquelyn Broadus, LLC will not have access to your card information. Any cash payments would receive an emailed receipt.
