About Jacqui
MY ROLE as a therapist is to provide a professional, therapeutic relationship where you feel safe and heard. Like a doctor, I want to help lower the pain from the past and present. Like a teacher, I want to instruct you in the ways of psychological wellness. Like a guide, I want to point out areas of safety, risk, and exploration. Like a coach, I want to build on your strengths while pushing you to grow in new skills. I want to help you be the best "you" that you can be.
MY STYLE is conversational and welcoming. I speak truth with gentleness and compassion. Therapy does not have to be a somber experience, and in the right doses, laughter can be a good medicine.
MY EXPERTISE is in trauma and other life issues like anxiety, depression, fatigue, upsetting events, grief, life transitions, self-esteem, spirituality, phobias, and stress. I enjoy working with all age groups and diversities, especially young adults and other professionals. I am EMDR certified, TF-CBT certified, CBT trained, DBT trained, and I include aspects of play therapy, sandtray therapy, art therapy, and Animal Assisted Interactions in treatment when appropriate.
MY EXPERIENCE as a clinician began in 2009 after graduating from Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta, Georgia. I have a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling with a specialization in child and adolescent issues. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with the state of Florida and am a Qualified Supervisor for registered interns pursuing licensure in mental health counseling or marriage and family therapy. I have worked in multiple clinical settings including the juvenile justice system, community mental health, a residential program for adults with chronic mental health issues, and therapy programs for children who survived abuse and neglect. I have served as a manager and a clinical supervisor of a trauma-focused therapy team that interacted closely with the Department of Children and Families. I have had the pleasure of presenting at several local, national, and international venues regarding trauma and other mental health topics.
